The following is a sponsored post from Campus Books + Operation Smile
Hopefully you read my post last week about oral hygiene and why it's so very dear to my heart. If not the long / short of it is that my daddy made it fun for me, and that carried through my entire life. I was always excited to hear someone say what a beautiful smile I had. What an amazing point of pride for a young child, if you really think about it.
Now that everyone is getting into the giving and sharing mindset, let me lay something on your hearts: Operation Smile. "Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that heals children's smiles, forever changing their lives. Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. One in 10 of those children will die before their first birthday. The children who survive are often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places, they are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a productive life.
I have been BLESSED with three albeit very eventful amazing pregnancies + deliveries. I cannot imagine the heartache and pain these families go through. To think of a child entering this scary, scary world in any less than 100% health brings tears to my tired eyes. Rest assured I'm not sharing this with you to make you feel bad, but instead to raise awareness. I cannot personally give the $240 it costs to perform one cleft lip surgery, but there are other ways to give! Campus Books, an online book rental program for college goers, donates a portion of every book rented to Operation Smile! If the cost of tuition and book rental alone doesn't make you beam haha then knowing you're doing something good for someone else surely will. Plus they now take book buying one step further with a new program called Rent Back, a way for book renters to continue making money from the books they already own.
If you're not a college student you know someone who is. Please share this with them. If we contribute to the bettering of one life this Holiday season or ever it's worth our time. Happy Holidays, friends!
So many great programs to give to this time of year...love this!

ReplyDeleteI love that they do this, when companies give back it makes me want to shop with them. I will have my husband share this with his students.
ReplyDeleteI love Campus Books. It's really great that you can save so much on textbooks with them and still help a charity as worthy as Operation Smile.
