ON THE GO // GREAT LAKES CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

Great Lakes Children's Museum
If your crew is into bright colors, hands-on activities, and hours of variety and fun, then this is the place for you! The Great lakes Children's Museum is located in Traverse City, Michigan, just two miles from booming downtown. During one particularly rainy day this September our family of five decided to venture there.
We are very conscious of our money, typically spending nothing on family outings, but the dreary rain caused a financial dismissal and we gave-in and paid the modest fare. Conveniently they charge $6.00 for adults to enter, but children under two are free! With three under two we were in luck!
Bonus: Admission is good for the entire day, you can even leave to come back, but you won't have to because they have a lunch room and kid-friendly restrooms on site.
There were plenty of activities and displays to entertain our infant daughter, as well as our full-of-life twins. Ayara loved the infant's room with walls painted like sky, soft play structures and plenty of attention to detail:

The twins were interested in touching everything, and that's just what they did. It was nice to have a rest from worrying about them breaking stuff. They were on, in, under, over, through every crevice and space they could find.

There was, of course, plenty of full-color educational tools around as well. Below are photos of the eye-catching weather changes poster, as well as seaway smokestacks and flags.

The museum is located directly across from Lake Michigan making the smokestacks and flags information even more interesting!

What would a Great Lakes Children's Museum be without hands-on water exploration? The boys were no doubt soaked after this (their favorite part). They did opt not to wear the (optional) water protection smocks.

If you're ever in Northern Michigan (and really you should plan to be) check it out for yourself. My only wish was that we'd packed a lunch to eat in their on-site cafeteria so we wouldn't have had to leave to eat. We were all having so much fun!

You can find directions and additional information here.

I am in no way affiliated with the Great Lakes Children's Museum. The opinions expressed herein are 100% my own.
